Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 3–9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach uticabbq at (315) 982-7003; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 375 reviews, which is a strong result for a chinese bbq in Utica and suggests consistent service.

Utica is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Utica is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Utica New York is the last place I expected to stumble across bbq food that was this good. I couldn’t even say what possessed me to go, but once I pulled into the parking lot I knew I’d stumbled across a gem. I can’t hear well, I was with a coworker & asked him to deal with ordering… after a moment of back & forward conversation with the chef my coworker gave me a thumbs up & said “this should be good… chef’s choice”. (My coworker is from out of state & had never been here either). Anyways to cut to the chase, I normally turn my nose up at cornbread. This was by far the best cornbread I have ever eaten, then the Mexican style corn… I wanted to ask for another helping, but the chef came out with a serving of Parmesan garlic wings and my attention was drawn to that next dish…. Followed by ribs & then some smoked chicken & potatoes in some kind of sauce that I couldn’t get enough of. I am keeping this place on my list of places I will be going to again when I’m in the area for work again. I’ll be telling my customers & friends in Syracuse about it & will be dragging the family here next trip to the east coast. Excellent meal. I’m looking forward ti going back.

Father’s Day dinner with my son and daughter at Utica BBQ today and we were blown away. Chance was running a one-man show and delivered some of the best service I’ve had in a long time. The food was outstanding, the timing and pacing were perfect, and every dish that came out was excellent. The brisket, ribs, wings, street corn, and dessert were all top-notch. Great food gets people in the door. Great service brings them back. Chance delivered both. We’ll definitely be back.

What can I say? We stopped here because everything else was closed on a Sunday, and I’m really glad we did. Chance, the owner, suggested the chef’s tasting menu and wow — totally worth it. The food was incredible. The cornbread was to die for. The Italian long hots stuffed with homemade chorizo and wrapped in bacon were absolutely unreal. And the ribs… I was expecting normal BBQ ribs, but these were completely different in the best possible way. Easily some of the best ribs I’ve ever had. If you want a unique, seriously delicious BBQ experience, this is the place.

This is not a 5/5, it’s a 10/5! The chef absolutely loves what he does and it’s obvious. Food is amazing, great laid back atmosphere. Chef delivered the food and answers questions. Just an all around great experience ending with a visit with Pork Chop!

Utica BBQ absolutely blew us away. My wife, my sister‑in‑law, and I went in for the tasting menu and left feeling like we’d just discovered something this area has been missing for years. The atmosphere hits you immediately — warm, inviting, and full of energy — and you can feel the owner’s passion the second he steps out to greet you. He’s not just cooking; he’s creating, hosting, and cracking jokes in between like someone who genuinely loves what he does. The dynamic between him and the gentleman working with him was something I’ve never seen around here. Their hospitality wasn’t just good — it was memorable. Personal, funny, engaging, and completely genuine. You don’t just get served food; you get welcomed in, taken care of, and entertained in the best way. The tasting menu was incredible from start to finish, each dish showing off real skill, creativity, and heart. It’s the kind of meal that sticks with you — not because it’s fancy, but because it’s crafted with intention and delivered with personality. This was a one‑of‑a‑kind experience for us, and we’re already planning our next visit. 100% recommend Utica BBQ to anyone who loves great food, great people, and a place that
